Together, let's do 125 for 125

By: Newsroom Staff on 04 Aug, 2012 15:13

CHARITY was the central motivation in Celtic’s formation back in 1887, and now, as the club marks its 125th year, it remains at the heart of Celtic.

And on the day that the Hoops unfurled the league flag at Paradise and successfully began the defence of the title with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen, Celtic Charity Fund has launched a special fundraising campaign – 1254125.

A host of Celtic legends helped to launch the campaign at half-time, which is asking Celtic fans around the world to unite their fundraising efforts and raise £125 each in the club´s 125th anniversary year.

Celtic’s history is unique in football, and the club formed to raise funds to help alleviate the poverty suffered by people in the East End of Glasgow, continues to raise money to help those most in need throughout the world.

It marks Celtic out as more than a club and it’s something that every Celtic supporter is very proud of.

Celtic Charity Fund’s new 1254125 campaign is one that is in the very best traditions of our club, and as Neil Lennon’s half-time message on the big screens said: ‘We are Celtic supporters - and we can make a difference. Together, let’s do 125 for125.’
