SEASON 2012/13 will see the 125th Anniversary of Celtic FC, who have come a long way from a meeting in the relatively humble surroundings of St Mary’s Church Hall in the Calton in November 1887, to the global name they are today.
 
From early success in their first ever match against Rangers – a 5-2 win on May 28, 1888 – through the European Cup triumph with the famous Lisbon Lions in 1967, the double winning Centenary team of 1988 among numerous others, the club has know many successes.
 
Legendary figures such as club founder Brother Walfrid, Willie Maley (who spent over 50 years at the club as player and manager), European Cup-winning manager Jock Stein and local legend Tommy Burns, have come and gone during these years, but will never be forgotten in the hearts and minds of the faithful Celtic support.
 
Now a new team of league-winning young Celts has been formed by Neil Lennon (who himself played over 300 games for the club) and they will be looking to emulate the many successes of the Celtic greats who have gone before them.
