Charlie Mulgrew's Super Sunday

AFTER scoring his first ever derby goal, Charlie Mulgrew probably thought that his day couldn’t get any better, but by the end of the night he was also in possession of two personal awards – the Celtic Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year Awards, given out at a special event on Sunday night.
Mulgrew’s diving header from a Kris Commons header after 17 minutes gave Celtic the lead, and further goals from Commons and Gary Hooper ensured a comprehensive victory for the Hoops.
And there was a real party atmosphere at the Player of the Year awards that night. Speaking after winning his two awards, Mulgrew said: “Growing up as a Celtic fan, it’s truly a dream come true to win these awards.
“The fans are there week in, week out, so to be voted by them is massive, and also by the players that I play with, day in day out. It’s also great to be voted by them too.
“When I first came back, there were new faces and it took some time to settle in. I’m thankful now to be in the team, and a lot of credit has to go to the management. It’s just been a great season so far.
“Of course, beating Rangers made the night even sweeter, and proved that we are worthy champions.”
And while the Celtic players have been able to enjoy the success of this season, Mulgrew knows that the hard work is already starting for next season, and the need to retain the title.
“We can’t get carried away,” he said. “It’s been a great season, but when it comes to the start of pre season, it will all be forgotten about and it’s about next season again and doing even better.”
