Celtic look to go 20 points clear on return to Paradise

IT was a Celtic trivia question doing the rounds on Sunday afternoon – when was the last time Celtic had won 18 consecutive domestic games? The answer, as most people will know now, is 1966 when the Hoops, managed by Jock Stein, recorded an impressive 18 domestic wins in a row at the beginning of the momentous 1966/67 season.
Now, Neil Lennon’s side are aiming for win No.19 when they play host to Dunfermline Athletic this Wednesday night.
The match is a re-arranged fixture because it clashes with Celtic’s appearance in the League Cup final next month, and the incredible atmosphere generated by the Celtic fans at Easter Road at the weekend as the Hoops beat Hibernian 5-0, is sure to be replicated in the home game against Dunfermline.
And the home support know that a victory will also put Celtic a remarkable TWENTY points clear at the top of the Scottish Premier League table.
The team are on a fine run of form and Wednesday’s game is a great opportunity to cheer the team on as they look to continue a remarkable run of victories.
And the Celtic manager will be looking for a repeat of Sunday’s performance at Easter Road, not only from his players but also from the supporters.
“It’s a big game on Wednesday,” said the Hoops boss, “and I hope the fans come out in force because they’re like a 12th man for us – they were magnificent against Hibs – and we’re looking forward to another home game.
“Samaras will definitely be in contention, as will Commons and Ki, so we’ll have to look at it. It´s a question of balancing the squad and keeping players on their toes and happy.
"We´ll have a think over the next couple of days, but it will be hard to change it after that performance."
And you can be at Paradise this Wednesday, February 22, to cheer on Neil Lennon´s side as they go in search of win number NINETEEN to go TWENTY points clear at the top of the SPL table.
