free entry to youth cup quarter-final

Joe Sullivan
DON'T miss out on the chance of FREE entry to Celtic Park on Wednesday evening to see the Under-19s in action as they take on Hibernian in the quarter-final of the Youth Cup.

Ever since a young Celtic side won the very first ever SFA Youth Cup back in season 1983/84, the club has been synonymous with success in the tournament.

Indeed, the current crop of youngsters are striving to win the trophy for the 10th time since then, with no other club being anywhere near as successful – Rangers are next in line with four wins.

John McLaughlan’s youngsters are trying to make amends for last season’s loss in the final to the Ibrox side and the next step is taken tomorrow night (Wednesday) when the Under-19s take part in the quarter-final here at Celtic Park.

The game kicks off at 7pm and there’s nothing the Bhoys would like more than a healthy crowd of Celts in the stand cheering them on to the next round.

After disposing of Partick Thistle 5-0 in the third round and then beating Motherwell thanks to a tight 3-2 scoreline in the fourth round, the young Hoops will take on Hibernian tomorrow night in what looks like being a memorable game.

There has been little give and take between the teams in the league this season with a 3-3 draw earlier in the term followed by a 2-2 scoreline just last month with the Hibees snapping at Celtic’s heels in the table.

So it promises to be an intriguing encounter as it’s one that is usually served up with plenty of goals, so get along to Celtic Park tomorrow night and help cheer the Bhoys on to a semi-final place against Aberdeen.

The Dons beat Livingston 4-3 (AET) in their quarter-final while Rangers beat Hearts 1-0.

The Ibrox side have now progressed to the ultimate stage after beating Dundee United 3-1 (AET) in their semi and now await either Celtic, Hibernian or Aberdeen in the final.

So do your bit in helping the young Celts get to their 13th Youth Cup final in all and their fourth in a row and we’ll see if we can get that 10th win finally tied up.
