boruc: international break will do us good

Gregor Kyle
AFTER a 5-0 win against Hearts, the Spartak drama and Sunday’s 5-1 thumping of St Mirren, an international break was the last thing that most Celtic supporters would have wished for.

But on returning to Celtic Park after the game, the players bid each other farewell and departed for locations across Europe, where thankfully even Shunsuke Nakamura will also be based for his two games with Japan.

While Naka joins his Japanese team-mates in Austria, Artur Boruc and Maciej Zurawski will be in neighbouring Germany for their training camp ahead of away games against Portugal and Finland.

The Polish goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to this week's Celtic View, also believes that the break will serve the Celtic players well, with some of the younger players getting a boost from their call-ups.

“It’s just something different for us and we will all come back with more experience after playing for our national teams,” said Boruc. “It’s all good experience for us and it should be a good break for us, which everyone should use wisely.

“I think it’s a much better start to the season than we have had in the past few years,” he continued. “It looks like we have improved a little bit again this summer and that’s another plus for us.

“It’s only the beginning of the season, but we are happy just now and I think that the game against Hearts in particular showed that we are a really good team.

“Hearts are a good team, who are strong and have played some good football against us recently, but we killed them that day.”
