  • Death of former Celt, John Dowie

Death of former Celt, John Dowie

By: Newsroom Staff on 25 Jan, 2016 15:36

  • EVERYONE at Celtic Football Club is saddened to hear of the death of former player, John Dowie, who has passed away at the age of 60

John joined Celtic in September 1977 after spending five years with Fulham, and the midfielder made his debut for the Hoops in a league game against Rangers at Ibrox on September 10 that year.

He would go on to make a total of 18 appearances for Celtic before he moved to Doncaster Rovers in July 1979. And after a short spell back in Glasgow, where he played for Clyde, John’s career took him to Australia.

The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic are with John’s family and friends at this very sad time.
