Midfielder Jamie Lindsay joins Dumbarton on loan

By: Martin Dalziel on 24 Jul, 2015 16:29

  • CELTIC midfielder Jamie Lindsay has joined Dumbarton FC on a six-month loan deal.

The Hoops youngster will join fellow Celt Calum Waters at Stevie Aitken’s side until January 4 as he bids for first-team experience in the Championship.

Lindsay began his career at Motherwell but was brought to Celtic in 2007 after the club spotted his talent.

Since then the 19-year0old has established himself with Stevie Frail’s Development Squad in recent years as a talented and confident midfielder, capable of bringing his side forward in attack as well as shoring up the defence.

Lindsay has starred in a number of friendly matches for the Celtic first-team, including against PSV in the champions’ mid-season training camp in Gran Canaria in January, before earning a start against Sparta Prague days later.

The midfielder spoke to this week’s Celtic View in an exclusive interview after making further appearances for Ronny Deila’s side in pre-season and said he would be happy to go on loan over the coming season in search of more first-team experience.

Lindsay said: “I would be happy to go on loan, so long as I’m playing first-team football somewhere, learning the game and picking up new experiences, growing up a bit.

“It’s important at my age to do that and take the next step. Obviously if I’m not playing with Celtic then I would like to go on loan and come back in six months or a year’s time and hopefully be a better player for it.

“If I go on loan and do well then I might come back and get a chance. I will just keep my head down and keep working hard.

“Everybody in the dressing room believes they’re good enough and with a bit of work and time we could step up. Hopefully we can get some experience, play some games, come back and be a better player.”

Lindsay is expected to be in Dumbarton’s squad for their match against Greenock Morton at Cappielow tomorrow (Saturday) in the first round of the Petrofac Training Cup.
