Hollywood actor star-struck at meeting Florida Hoops

By: Newsroom Staff on 24 Jun, 2015 16:44

  • IT’S difficult to know who was more delighted when Hollywood actor David O’Hara bumped into Florida Celtic, one of our International Club Partners, while both were in Louisiana recently.

Celtic fan David immediately noticed the iconic green and white Hoops of the Under-15 team who were in town to participate in the Southeast Regional Finals.

The Glasgow- born actor has appeared in Academy Award winning films The Departed and Braveheart, where he played Irishman Stephen who comes to the aid of William Wallace, as well as other notable big screen hits such as Hotel Rwanda and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

He’s always retained his love of the Hoops and was keen to speak to the players and staff of the Florida club and took some time to have his photo taken with the Bhoys.

Florida Celtic are one of our longest-standing International Partner Clubs and proudly wear the Hoops throughout America as part of that partnership.

Their Under-15 Girls side recently enjoyed some notable success by winning the Disney Memorial Day Soccer Shootout at ESPN Wide World of Sports, a tournament that attracts teams from all over the country.

Florida Celtic won the final on penalties against Fort Lauderdale Select and we’d like to pass on our congratulations to coach George Gomes, his players and everyone involved with the team.

To find out more about becoming an International Club Partner contact Celtic Soccer Academy Manager Willie McNab at [email protected] or on +44 (0) 141 551 4335.
