Miller aiming to continue progress against Saints

By: Mark Henderson on 06 Apr, 2015 10:48

  • CALVIN Miller’s elevation to daily life at Lennoxtown last month has given him further encouragement as he bids to make the grade in Paradise.

The 17-year-old has featured for the Development Squad since the start of the season but he now trains alongside them and the first-team squad on a daily basis.

It highlighted the winger’s steady progress on the pitch for Stevie Frail’s side over recent months, which included an impressive display and a goal in the recent 3-2 victory over Hibernian.

And he will be aiming to help the young Hoops achieve another league victory today when they travel to Perth to take on St Johnstone (kick off 2pm).

Speaking to this week’s Celtic View in an exclusive interview, the talented teenager said: "I moved up to Lennoxtown a few weeks ago and did a few training sessions and now I am starting to get into the team and prove myself.

“It’s really had an impact on my performances, as I know I am doing something well or else I wouldn’t be moved up there. It’s obviously helping my confidence levels.

“Being around more senior players also gives you a lift and gives you something to strive for, so it’s good to be in that environment.

“It’s a big step up but you need to play with confidence and if you do that then you can enjoy things and create things and really settle into the team,” he said.

“It’s about knowing about the players in the team and bonding with them outside of football. It’s a great thing to have as you can take that into the game.

“I just keep working on it every day in training and getting my fitness up and hopefully that helps me in what I do in the games.”
