  • Griffiths now has Hamilton in his sights

Griffiths now has Hamilton in his sights

By: Mark Henderson on 21 Feb, 2015 15:31

  • SHOULD Leigh Griffiths get the nod on Sunday, he will be anticipating a tough test from Hamilton Accies, the last team to inflict a home defeat on Celtic in the league back in October.

Avenging that loss, sore as it was, won’t distract the Scottish internationalist from the prize of victory and the chance of cementing Celtic’s position at the league summit.

“It’s a home game and we want to win all our home games,” he told the official match programme. “They came to Celtic Park last time and beat us 1-0 so we will be hoping to rectify that.

“We've been playing well and we beat Hamilton 2-0 at their place last month, so we're even in games and we will be looking to pick up another three points against them this week.”

“We want to go even further and we want to pull away from the teams underneath us as quickly as possible,” added Griffiths. "It won’t be easy as Aberdeen, Dundee United and Inverness are all good sides and will all be trying to chase us but we just have to carry on our form.”

A Celtic triumph is now the signal for Ronny Deila to launch his post-match celebration with the travelling support, and the ‘Ronny Roar’ has become of the most anticipated moments in the match for the Hoops faithful.

While the manager takes the spotlight, the players don’t mind getting involved either on occasions, and Griffiths can only see positives in fostering a greater harmony between them and the fans.

“He must have done that back in Norway when he won games and the boys never knew about it but the boys love it now and it’s just a bit of banter,” said Griffiths.

“The fans love it and as long as we keep winning he will keep doing it. You always need to have that closeness between the fans, the players, manager and everyone associated with the club.”
