  • Fasan eyeing further game time

    Fasan eyeing further game time

By: Mark Henderson in Austria on 08 Jul, 2014 08:43

  • YOUNG goalkeeper Leo Fasan has had a profitable pre-season so far and he’s hoping it’s the prelude to further first-team opportunities over the next 12 months.

The 20-year-old has featured in both games over in Austria, playing the second half of the 3-1 victory over FK Krasnodar and coming for the last 30 minutes of Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Rapid Vienna.

Yet to concede a goal, and having made several outstanding saves, the Italian has grasped his chance with both hands as new boss Ronny Deila surveys his squad ahead of his first season at the helm.

And now Fasan, who impressed for the Under-20s in the previous campaign, is eager to play some part against LASK Linz today (Kick-off 6pm Celtic Park time) and continue to stake a claim for more game time.

“I hope I can play more minutes in this game and show what I can do,” he told Celtic TV in an exclusive interview. “I spoke already with the manager and he seems quite happy and hopefully I can continue to do well.

“There have been two good games and I was happy to play a part in them, especially on Sunday as the atmosphere was unbelievable. I really enjoyed it.

“It’s been very good and the weather has been nice and warm and the pitches are great so it’s been a good trip so far.

“It’s a bit different for the keepers as we get a bit more involved in the possession exercises but it’s been good.

“We had a good season last year and I hope I can play a good few games with the first team this season and I’m looking forward to it.

“I want to play games for the first team and try and play as many times as I can so we will see what happens.”

The best way to take your place as we look forward to the season ahead, and a new era under Ronny Deila’s stewardship is to have your own seat in Paradise..
