Johnstone: Celtic U20s up for five in a row

By: Kenny McKay on 09 May, 2014 09:54

  • DENNY Johnstone believes that Celtic-U20s' trip to Tayside will see them return to Glasgow as champions.

The young Hoops need a win over Dundee United this afternoon to bring them their fifth consecutive league title, and the Bhoys’ hit-man is confident his side have what it takes to triumph in what is shaping up to be the most important game of their season.

After an impressive and important victory over Rangers earlier this week that set the stage for today’s potential title triumph, goal-hero Johnstone says he can’t wait to get started.

He said: “This is what we've been working towards all year, the chance to win the title and now we’re all very excited about the game.

“We’re under no illusions of the task in front of us but we performed well against Rangers and, importantly, we've recovered well and feel good for this game.

“We've also taken a great deal of confidence from that performance. We knew after the first game that we could pass the ball well and in the first five minutes we started off slow but I felt we only grew into the game and after that, things started to open up for us.

“I think it was so important for us that after we scored the first goal we kept it tight at the back and didn't concede. To get the opening goal was great I was delighted with it because I was told at half-time to get into that area much more often and it was a great delivery from Filip so it was there for me to attack it.

“Hopefully I can get on the scoresheet up at Tannadice, but I just want us to win and to be champions once again.”
