  • Celtic Girls’ Academy recruitment drive

    Celtic Girls’ Academy recruitment drive

By: Newsroom Staff on 25 Feb, 2014 09:55

  • THE Celtic women’s and girls’ programme current falls under the Celtic FC Foundation umbrella. Aside from our two senior women’s teams who play at the very top level of Scottish Women’s Football, we have six girls’ teams in an Academy which underpins the programme.

Teams at ages 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17 represent Celtic in the competitive Scottish Women’s Football regional leagues and Scottish Cups.

Preparation for the new 2014 summer season which begins next month is well underway, with evening training sessions taking place several times per week, the number of evenings dependent on the age-group.

Training sessions and challenge matches are being arranged with other clubs so that everyone is well prepared for the season ahead.

Since the Girls’ Academy was set up in 2007, the teams have won over 40 trophies at regional and national level and many girls have gone on to represent Scottish national teams at all age levels.

Over 60 players have graduated to the Celtic first team and played in the Scottish Women’s Premier League.

We continue to be keen to recruit players of the highest quality for the new season for all positions and at all age-groups. We are especially keen to augment the Celtic 15s and Celtic 14s squads, and are looking for goalkeepers of all ages.

Parents interested should contact head of the Girls’ Academy Paul Brownlie 0141 551 4430 or [email protected]
