  • NEIL Lennon took time out from preparations for this Sunday´s Scottish Cup tie against Raith Rovers to welcome two special guests to the Lennoxtown Training Centre.

Former Spanish internationalist Gaizka Mendieta and well-known Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague were at Celtic´s training HQ, and spent time with the Celtic manager and assistant, Johan Mjallby before being presented with special Celtic shirts to mark their visit.

And the two men later headed to Celtic Park where they met up with Chief Executive Peter Lawwell.

Mendieta played over 40 times for Spain during an illustrious career with Valencia, Lazio, a loan spell with Barcelona, and then a spell with English side, Middlesbrough, where he finished his career.

And he was in Glasgow with Guillem Balague for a special event in the city to promote Balague´s new book. The journalist, a regular guest on Sky Sports´ Spanish football coverage, has written a biography of former Barcelona manager, Pep Guardiola.
