    The View's Favourite... Domestic Goal results & our readers' replies

    By: Joe Donnelly on 27 Mar, 2020 19:01

  • THIS week, each member of the Celtic View team made a case for their favourite domestic goal in our new ‘The View’s Favourite’ feature. Every Friday, we’ll turn it over to the official Celtic View’s Twitter followers to vote for their pick of the bunch, and to suggest their own using #ViewFavourite. We'll then feature those here at 7pm.

    Here's a reminder of this week's posts from us:

    MONDAY
    Paul Cuddihy recalled the goosebumps Henrik Larsson’s derby chip still evokes 20 years on.

    TUESDAY
    Joe Donnelly said he considers Jackie McNamara’s first Celtic goal among the best he's ever seen.

    WEDNESDAY
    Tony Connelly recalled the impossibility of Shunsuke Nakamura’s Paradise piledriver against Rangers in April, 2008.

    THURSDAY
    Joe Sullivan, believe it or not, took us back to a Reserves game in December, 1991.

    And now the final results are in…

    PAUL: 78.2% - WINNER
    JOE D: 2%
    TONY: 19.1%
    JOE S: 0.7%

    "Delighted? Yes! Surprised? No!" said Celtic View editor Paul Cuddihy after a landslide victory. "An easy win for me because what could be better than Henrik's chip? I might find it a bit tougher next week, though, when we pick our favourite Glasgow derby win."

    Here are some other suggestions from the official Celtic View's Twitter followers - we've added italics where our readers have kept us guessing:

    John MacPhee
    @cfc96317967

    Tony Watt. (Which we assume is in reference to his Barca matchwinner of 2012, though that was a Euro goal!)

    David
    @David_Celts1888

    Larsson’s chip. It’s not even up for debate.

    Oden
    @Oden29328257

    Samaras. (The Greek forward’s first of two at Ibrox in January, 2011, perhaps?)

    Harald Brattbaak v St Johnstone, 9th May, 1998.

    Scott Brown winning the league at Rugby Park is right up there. French Eddy in the 95th minute at Dens Park is up there. For supporters of other teams, it must have been a crushing blow.

    Connor Hynds
    @1Conzobhoy

    Samaras' bicycle-kick vs Aberdeen.

    Ryan McGuinness
    @RyanMcGuinness
    Paul Lambert’s screamer of a half-volley against Rangers, on January 2, 1998. What a hit, son!

    Aidan
    @Aidan_Celtic_67

    Aberdeen 1-2 Celtic, Scottish Cup final, Tom Rogic.

    Thanks for your input, Celts! Be sure to look out for next week’s topic – our favourite Glasgow derbies – which kicks off at 7pm on Monday.
