Jozo: Celts' winning mentality keeps us focused on ourselves

By: Tony Connelly on 13 Feb, 2020 12:01

  • JOZO Simunovic said Celtic’s record in recent seasons has instilled a winning mentality that will help the champions continue their current form, adding the team’s full and undivided attention is only on maintaining the high standards they have set themselves.

Celtic made it eight wins from eight in 2020 with a 5-0 victory over Hearts at Paradise last night (Wednesday), a victory which also saw Neil Lennon’s side extend their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to 10 points.

“Over the last few years we’ve set high standards and we know we can only focus on ourselves, it’s very simple,” said Simunovic. “We regrouped after the new year and the way we’re playing makes me look forward to the next game.

“We want to win every game. Every game is big for us. That’s how we prepare ourselves. Every game has three points available and we want to take them all.

“It was a good night for all of us and the other results were good, so we can be only happy but we focus on ourselves and it was a good performance. We don’t pay any attention to other teams when we have a job to do. We just focused on ourselves and in the end we did a good job and can be happy.

“We need to look at ourselves. We know what our job is and how we want to play. We’ve scored many goals and that’s Celtic. We want to score goals and are going about that the right way.”
