Foundation fundraiser encourages other fans to get involved

  • BACK in September, Celtic supporter Lee Callaghan took on one of the biggest challenges of his life when he set sail in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

Now, back on dry land and having had time to reflect on his achievement, Lee is keen to highlight just how much he enjoyed his experience, as well as urge others to get involved in support of Celtic FC Foundation.

Having raised over £4,000 for the four charities close to his heart - Celtic FC Foundation, British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK and Barra Island Lifeboats - Lee hopes to have set an example for other fans who might wish to take on their own challenge, in support of the Foundation.

Lee said: “I have had such an amazing personal experience taking part in the Clipper Race and getting more involved with Celtic FC Foundation at the same time.

“The work they do, especially around dementia care, is something I feel strongly about, so being able to shout about my club and the great work of the Foundation, to people from all over the world, while being thousands of miles from home felt really special.”

Through his efforts, Lee has honoured some of his lost loved ones, each of whom inspired him in one way or another to take on this incredible challenge and raise funds for some very worthy causes.

Lee added: “I would urge all supporters out there to get more involved with Celtic FC Foundation and raise some money if you can.

“They have a team who are dedicated to helping with supporter-led events and there are also plenty of activities on throughout the country which fans can get involved in.”
