Celtic Women's team delighted to sign two top American players

By: Newsroom Staff on 16 Jan, 2020 14:51

  • CELTIC FC Women are delighted to have signed two American players for the 2020 season, with Sarah Teegarden and Summer Green joining the Hoops on professional contracts.

The news follows the announcement earlier today (Thursday) that Chloe Logan, Keeva Keenan, Chloe Craig, Sarah Ewens and Natalie Ross have all agreed new professional contracts with the club, and on the same day that new Head Coach, Fran Alonso, was officially unveiled.

Midfielder Sarah Teegarden, 24, has played her football professionally in the United States, in Sweden with Kopparbergs Goteborg FC and most recently in France with Lille

And forward Summer Green, 24, is another player with a great pedigree, having played in both college and professional football in the United States, before moving to Sweden to link up with Vittsjö for 2019. Summer has also represented the USA at Under-17s, U20s and U23s level.

On January 7, the club announced that its women’s first team have moved to professional status for the first time, and the squad are heading out to Spain next week for a warm-weather training camp ahead of their first competitive match of the 2020 season – a League Cup tie on February 9.
