Celtic starting XI for the League Cup final 2019

By: Joe Donnelly on 08 Dec, 2019 13:45

  • CELTIC face their city rivals this afternoon (Sunday) in the 2019 League Cup final at Hampden. Neil Lennon makes four changes to the side that beat Hamilton Accies at Paradise in midweek, as his side target a 12th successive victory across all competitions.

On fine form between the sticks, Fraser Forster starts, with Jeremie Frimpong, Christopher Jullien, Kris Ajer and Jonny Hayes in front of him across the back. Captain Scott Brown, Callum McGregor, James Forrest and Ryan Christie all start in midfield – as does Mohamed Elyounoussi, who marks his return from injury.

Lewis Morgan again leads the line for the Scottish champions, while French striker Odsonne Edouard, Craig Gordon, Nir Bitton, Mikey Johnston, Tom Rogic, Olivier Ntcham and Boli Bolingoli all start on the bench.

The last time the sides met was at Ibrox in September, when goals from Edouard and Hayes secured three points on the road for the Hoops. In last season’s League Cup final, a single strike from Christie against Aberdeen made the difference as Celtic took their first step towards their historic and unprecedented Treble Treble.

Kick-off at Hampden is 3pm. All the pre-match build-up and live up-dates will be available on the official Celtic Twitter- @CelticFC.

CELTIC: Forster; Frimpong, Jullien, Ajer, Hayes; Brown, McGregor, Forrest, Christie, Elyounoussi; Morgan.
Subs: Gordon, Bitton, Johnston, Rogic, Ntcham, Bolingoli, Edouard
