Reminder – Foodbank Collection pre-match against Kilmarnock

By: Newsroom Staff on 12 Sep, 2019 11:21

  • CELTIC FC Foundation would like to remind supporters that we will be holding a food collection on Sunday, September 22 ahead of the home game against Kilmarnock. The match kick off time is 1pm.

As part of this specific collection, the Foundation are teaming up with three Glasgow Foodbanks as well as our partner Glasgow NE Foodbank, who have continued to make a significant difference in the past year, thanks to the generosity of Celtic supporters across the world.

And supporters who are attending the match are asked to bring a donation that helps to address issues of poverty, hunger and homelessness in our society. Even one item from the list can make a huge difference to someone’s life.

On consultation with Glasgow NE Foodbank, vital items required include:

    • Tinned vegetables
    • Tinned fish
    • Tinned rice
    • Tinned fruit
    • Packet Custard
    • Pasta
    • Pasta Sauce
    • Tea bags
    • UHT milk
    • Juice
    • Biscuits

There are a number of drop-off stations around the stadium – The Clover on Celtic Way (main collection), the North West of the stadium (Holywell Street) and North East (Janefield Street).

Please note that this is not a cash collection.

The legacy of Walfrid was a football club fundamentally committed to his ideals of supporting those in need locally, nationally and far beyond national borders.

Celtic FC Foundation continues to deliver this legacy on a daily basis and with its continued partnership with the Glasgow NE Foodbank, which was established in 2013, we are able to work together help alleviate some of the challenges in the local area and beyond.

Celtic FC Foundation Chief Executive, Tony Hamilton said: “There are countless demands on people’s time and money at the moment but collecting food for families who would otherwise go hungry is hugely important.

“We are all very grateful for your support in this initiative and for supporting all of the other things that Celtic FC Foundation does throughout the year. Thank you very much for your help.”
