Celtic starting XI for CFR Cluj clash at Paradise

By: Tony Connelly on 13 Aug, 2019 18:27

  • NEIL Lennon will field a Hoops side laden with goals for the second leg of Celtic’s Champions League third qualifying round tie against CFR Cluj at Paradise tonight (Tuesday).

Six of Celtic’s outfield players in tonight’s starting XI have already opened their goalscoring account this season, and Neil Lennon will hope that form in front of goal continues as the Scottish champions look to secure a positive result following the 1-1 draw in Romania last week.

James Forrest scored Celtic’s all-important away goal in the first leg and the 28-year-old will start  tonight, as will Mikey Johnston, who already has two goals in his four competitive appearances since the start of the new campaign.

Odsonne Edouard is part of the Hoops attack tonight and will look to add to the three goals he has scored so far this season. The 21-year-old will be accompanied in the starting line-up by his compatriot, Olivier Ntcham, who has been on fine form in recent weeks and scored at Celtic Park in the Premiership opener.

Ntcham will be part of a Hoops team captained by Scott Brown and including fellow goal scorers Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie.

Kristoffer Ajer, who netted the equaliser in Saturday’s 5-2 win away to Motherwell, is the sixth player in tonight’s starting XI to have scored in recent weeks.

Should Celtic secure a positive result tonight, they will progress to the play-off round of the UEFA Champions League where they will meet Czech champions Slavia Prague.

Kick-of at Celtic Park is 7:45pm. The match will be available to view live on Celtic TV for subscribers worldwide, including the UK and Ireland but excluding Romania. Fans have until 6:45pm- one hour before kick-off- to sign up to Celtic TV.
