Celtic View feature: 'Tic-Fire Questions with Luca Connell

By: Tony Connelly on 21 Jul, 2019 13:01

  • IT'S a new season and a new Celtic View feature as we catch up with the players and discover some of their interests away from the game. Here's a taster of what the official club magazine has to offer, with Luca Connell's 'Tic-Fire Questions'...

Most memorable tournament you remember watching when you were younger?
I’d probably have to go with Euro 2016. My defining memory of that was Robbie Brady scoring a header against Italy in the 1-0 win for Ireland. We got through to the last 16 in that tournament so it was quite memorable for me.

What do you listen to on your way to training?
I’ll mainly listen to rap music or maybe dance music. It depends what mood I’m in. Recently I’ve been listening to Drake, Meek Mills and Nines.

    Favourite holiday destination?
Dubai. I’ve been three times now, to different places each time. It’s the perfect place to chill out and it has everything.

    Favourite TV shows?
I don’t watch a lot of shows but I’d say the Netflix show ‘Power’. That and ‘Love Island’ – it’s unbelievable.

    Favourite movies?
If I had to choose a favourite film, I’d say The Wolf of Wall Street. That’s brilliant. I watched it on Netflix recently.

    Favourite cuisine?
Burger and chips. I like a good quality burger or some chicken with chips. There are healthier options but they’re both good sources of protein and I don’t eat them a lot. I won’t eat them on a random night, but if I could out to eat in a nice place and they do burgers, I’ll usually go with that.

Food you love but can’t eat because of diet?
Pizza is probably up there. I love pizza and would probably go for Dominos, but I rarely have that.

    Last video game you played?
FIFA 2019 or Fortnite. I’m terrible at Fortnite. I’m alright at shooting, I just can’t build.

Advice you’d give your younger self?
I’d tell myself to be more confident and not to hesitate to go and speak to people. I do that now but I’ve learned that with age. Had I known that when I was younger, I’d have done it more and fitted in more. When I first joined Ireland, I wasn’t confident enough to go over and speak to someone. I wasn’t as outgoing as I am now.

    Favourite skill away from football?
I like to play golf. I’m not good at it but I enjoy playing it. I’m going to take it up more now because some of the boys in the team like golf.

Player from past generations you’d like to play alongside?
I’m not sure about past generations but the one that jumps to mind from this generation is Cristiano Ronaldo. I’ve spoken to John O'Shea while I was away with Ireland and he told me what he’s like to play with. He said he was unbelievable, but sometimes it got too much with him trying to do something over the top every time.
