  • Filip Benkovic: We believe in ourselves

Filip Benkovic: We believe in ourselves

By: Newsroom Staff on 19 Sep, 2018 12:35

  • CELTIC TV spoke exclusively to Filip Benkovic as he prepares for the prospect of playing in the UEFA Europa League.

The 21-year-old, who joined on-loan from Leicester City in August, is relishing the opportunity to pull on the Hoops for a European night in Paradise.

Speaking ahead of Celtic v Rosenborg in the UEFA Europa League, Benkovic said: “This will be a very good experience for all of us and we all want to make sure that we play good football and get a good result.

“We have a tough group, but we believe in ourselves and in our opportunities. The only way we’ll get a good result is by working as a team and I believe we will do it.”

The Croatian made his debut for the Celts last week in the 0-0 draw against St Mirren and was happy to get his first 60 minutes under Brendan Rodgers.

“I was very happy to make my debut but unfortunately it wasn’t the result that we wanted,” he said. “It’s a very physical league and I like that as I think I can improve in this area.

“There are a lot of fixtures coming up and, for me, I just want to improve in training and give everything that I can to prove that I deserve to play.”
