    Hail! Hail! to the History Bhoys as Celtic win the Double Treble

  • CELTIC have made Scottish football history, becoming the first club ever to win back-to-back trebles. The 2-0 victory over Motherwell at Hampden today in the Scottish Cup final ensured another memorable season for Brendan Rodgers’ side, who have now won all six domestic trophies that have been up for grabs since the Irishman arrived at Paradise in May 2016.

    Celtic’s Double Treble is a stunning achievement, and the Hoops fans packed into the National Stadium celebrated the historic triumph.

    Last season, Brendan Rodgers guided his team to an unprecedented Invincible treble, becoming only the third manager in Celtic’s history to win all three domestic trophies in a season after Jock Stein and Martin O’Neill.

    Now the Celtic manager has done something which no other manager has ever done before in Scotland – winning the treble on two consecutive seasons.

    The League Cup returned to Paradise at the end of November when the Hoops beat Motherwell in the final thanks to goals from James Forrest and Moussa Dembele.

    And the Premiership title was clinched in emphatic style – the seventh in a row for the club – as they demolished their city rivals 5-0 in a thrilling game at Celtic Park.

    That only left the Scottish Cup and Celtic, already the most successful club in the tournament’s history, secured the 38th triumph with today’s victory over Motherwell.

    Of greater significance, of course, is the fact that this success clinched a Double Treble. Scottish football has never seen anything like it before… Hail! Hail! to the History Bhoys.
