Kristoffer Ajer signs new four-year contract

By: Newsroom Staff on 14 May, 2018 11:56

  • CELTIC are delighted to announce that Kristoffer Ajer has signed a new four-year contract which will see him remain at the club until at least the summer of 2022.

The 20-year-old Norwegian defender has been an impressive performer this season, particularly since establishing himself as a regular in the starting XI since the beginning of December, and he has played his part in helping the Hoops secure a seventh conectuive league title.

He signed for Celtic from Norwegian side, IK Start, back in july 2016, and made his first-team debut in the 3-0 home win over Lincoln Red Imps in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers in July of that year.

The latter half of the 2016/17 season saw him enjoy a successful loan spell at Kilmarnock, and he returned to Celtic Park intent on pushing his way into the first-team squad.

He played six games up until the beginning of December, when he started in a 5-1 win against Motherwell, and since then he has been a regular in the heart of the Celtic defence. His form for Brendan Rodgers' side also saw him recently rewarded with his first international caps for Norway.

Reaction from Kristoffer Ajer to follow on the official Celtic website.
