  • Charly Musonda hails the Celtic support

Charly Musonda hails the Celtic support

By: Tony Connelly on 08 Feb, 2018 09:03

  • CHARLY Musonda brought Paradise to its feet last week when he made his highly-anticipated Celtic debut 24 hours after sealing his dream move and now the talented young midfielder is planning to show his gratitude with his performances on the pitch.

Celtic were 3-0 up against Hearts on Tuesday last week when Brendan Rodgers called Musonda over from the touchline to come on for the last 30 minutes of the game. When a packed Celtic Park saw the 21-year-old walk to the touchline and the fourth official signalling for a substitute, they gave him a rapturous applause.

Musonda delighted the Paradise faithful with his customary mesmerising footwork and some good link-up play with team-mates he had yet to have the chance to properly train with.

The Hoops eventually ran out 3-1 winners and, after making his debut, Musonda gave an exclusive interview to this week’s Celtic View when he paused to reflect on what the night meant to him.

“It was amazing to play here in front of the fans for the first time at Celtic Park,” he said. “The reception was unbelievable and I was blown away by it.

“I don’t think I expected it to be that loud. I haven’t experienced anything quite like that. It shows how amazing Celtic fans are and how much they care about me already. I’m really grateful for that and I can’t wait to repay that faith by doing a good job on the pitch.

“I thought I would be coming on when the manager told me to go and warm up. Even the applause I received when I came out of the dugout and ran down the touchline was amazing.

“When he called me over I couldn’t wait to get on to the pitch. Standing on the touchline waiting to come on was incredible and the noise the fans made when I took to the field is something I’ll never forget. I can’t wait to play more games now and get to know my team-mates.”
