Claire Crosbie signs up for Celtic Women’s new season

By: Newsroom Staff on 07 Feb, 2018 14:04

  • AS the Celtic Women's side gear up for the start of their new 2018 summer season this Sunday, defender Claire Crosbie has been added to their squad.

The 31-year-old from Edinburgh has played all her football with Spartans until a serious injury sidelined her in 2015. She was actually registered with Celtic last season, but had not recovered sufficiently to take part in any games.

After a spell teaching physical education in an international school in Abu Dhabi, she is now fully fit and aiming to claim her place in the Hoops’ line-up.

Claire joins other new recruits Claire Adams, Rachel Donaldson, Keeva Keenan and Nicole Pullar in what is looking like a very strong squad.

Claire told the official Celtic website: “I always said that I’d never leave Spartans, but after this long spell out of football, I was looking for a new challenge.

“Celtic is such a big club with great facilities and the ambition to challenge for honours, so I was happy to restart my career here.

“I certainly don’t intend to sit on the bench, and hope to be a starter in my preferred position of centre-half.”

Celtic begin their Scottish Building Society Scottish Women’s Premier League season with an attractive home fixture against Rangers.

By coincidence these are the same opponents as in the last home game of the 2017 season when the Hoops won comfortably by 5-1 with doubles from Natalie Ross and Sarah Ewens.

It’s sure to be an entertaining game at the weekend, and it’s pay at the gate.
