Captain: It's brilliant to be back in Dubai

By: Mark Henderson on 10 Jan, 2018 08:01

  • FAMILIARITY doesn’t breed contempt for Scott Brown, who reckons returning to Dubai for this season’s winter training camp has been a masterstroke by the club.

The Hoops used the same hotel and training facilities in the city 12 months ago and they went on to enjoy a superb second half of the campaign, clinching an unprecedented Invincible Treble.

And speaking exclusively to Celtic TV, the captain said that the Bhoys were enjoying being back in the same surroundings as they gear up for the resumption of competitive action later this month.

“It’s been fantastic – the conditions, the pitches, and it’s also been great to get some sun and chilled time as well,” the captain explained. “The facilities were top-class last season and it was good to the get the same training facilities and it helps we are in the same hotel as well.

"We're familiar with everything, and there is a pool and beach so we have all we need."

“Training has been hard," continued the skipper. "We have had two double sessions in the morning when we have been making sure we have been working hard. After that, it’s downtime and time to chill-out when you make sure you recover for tomorrow’s training, which is going to be hard again.”

And the midfielder also revealed that new Bhoy Marvin Compper was settling well into the group following his move from RB Leipzig at the start of the winter transfer window.

“He came in and he has been very positive,” said Brown. “He speaks well and he even understands what I say, which helps! He has come in and joined in with the lads and gone out for dinner with us, so it’s good to get to know the new players who come in.”
