Make a difference with your New Year’s Resolution

By: Newsroom Staff on 03 Jan, 2018 10:01

  • CAN you make it your New Year’s resolution to become a Champion of Celtic FC Foundation?

Via the initiative Walfrid’s Wish, we are inviting supporters to continue the legacy of Brother Walfrid by becoming a Champion of the Club’s charitable arm, and contributing £3 or more per month to the advancement of our work.

Last week celebrated the first anniversary of the launch of Walfrid’s Wish, and to mark the event, the Foundation were delighted to announce Kieran Tierney as the first ambassador of the campaign.

Joining Kieran as proud advocates of Celtic FC Foundation’s regular giving programme, some of our existing supporters this week shared their view on why they donate each month.

Grace McAnaney, from Derry, said:  “It was really easy to sign up, just a quick text message. Now I get a text from the Foundation every month with updates on what the money is helping them to do. It’s great reading the newsletter and knowing you’re making a difference to so many people around the world, and all in the name of Brother Walfrid.”

James Ralston, of Shotts, added: “It was quick and convenient to sign up to a monthly donation on the Foundation website. You forget about the payment coming off after that, but I like getting the emails telling me what’s going on at the Foundation that month. As Celtic fans, we always do what we can for charity but we can’t always be hands-on. This is a really easy way to do your bit every month.”

Ian Logie, a Walfrid’s Wish supporter based in London, explained: “Being a long-distance supporter, my chances to personally experience Celtic have been few and far between. Joining Walfrid’s Wish strengthens the bond. It’s nice to be part of that community and it allows me to give back for the pleasure the Club has given me over the years!”

Regular donors like Grace, James and Ian are extremely important to the future of Celtic FC Foundation and that of the communities we serve. By choosing to give a monthly contribution, donors help us to plan for the future by allowing us to project a stable and dependable income.

To join, supporters are asked to pledge £3 per month and, in return, receive a host of newsletter updates, event invitations and competition entries throughout the year.

Speaking about winning a place at this year’s ‘Star at Lennoxtown’ competition, Mick Mearns, from Glasgow, said: “After a friend won a place at the Walfrid’s Wish challenge tournament at Lennoxtown, I was very lucky to be asked to take part. I had a fantastic experience and met some great people. When I learned more about the good work carried out by the Foundation, I signed up as a member too. For only £3 a month it’s a pleasure to be able to help in a small way.”

To join Walfrid’s Wish in 2018, by pledging £3 per month to Celtic FC Foundation, please TEXT CHAMPION to 70020 or visit www.celticfcfoundation.com
