Tom Rogic: We're ready for Anderlecht challenge

By: Mark Henderson on 03 Dec, 2017 13:02

  • TOM Rogic insists Celtic will relish the challenge of securing European football beyond Christmas in Tuesday night’s crunch UEFA Champions League showdown with Anderlecht.

The Hoops only need to avoid defeat by more than two goals against to secure third place in Group B and a place in the last 32 of the Europa League.

In the corresponding fixture in Brussels, Brendan Rodgers' side produced a superb performance and recorded an emphatic 3-0 victory courtesy of goals from Leigh Griffiths, Patrick Roberts and Scott Sinclair.

And Rogic, who played his part in Saturday's 5-1 home win over Motherwell, is looking forward to the challenge of facing the Belgian champions, with third place in Group B up for grabs.

“Any European night at home is always special,” said the Australian midfielder. “We know what the atmosphere is going to be like so as a player you don’t need any added motivation at all.

"These are special nights and it’s our responsibility as players to go out there on the pitch, perform and get the job done. We're always confident at home, knowing we have that support there. It’s an important match. We understand that and we will be looking to get the job done.

“In particular, the Bayern Munich game at home has given us as players, and I guess the supporters, a lot of confidence going into the match. It’s something to build on. We always want to improve and become better players and a better team and we will be looking to build on that for sure."
