Bhoys return to Premiership action against Dundee

By: Tony Connelly on 14 Oct, 2017 14:00

  • EBOUE Kouassi and Olivier Ntcham will pair up in the centre of midfield for the first time when Celtic meet Dundee in the Premiership today (Saturday). The Hoops are aiming to maintain their position at the top of table and extend their 58-game domestic unbeaten run when they take on Neil McCann’s side at Paradise.

The Bhoys return to action following last week’s international break in which many of the Hoops players represented their country in the final group-stage games of the World Cup qualifiers.

Brendan Rodgers explained that today’s fixture was too soon for Stuart Armstrong and Scott Brown to return to action from their respective injuries, while Eboue Kouassi’s inclusion in the starting XI marks his return from an injury sustained against Kilmarnock at the start of the season.

Leigh Griffiths will start up front with Callum McGregor just behind and Scott Sinclair and Patrick Roberts supporting from the wings. Cristian Gamboa makes his first start of the season in place of Mikael Lustig at right-back alongside Belgian internationalist Dedryck Boyata, Nir Bitton and Kieran Tierney, who captains the side.

Craig Gordon has also been rested after a double-header with Scotland and will be replaced by Dorus de Vries in goals. The Dutchman’s inclusion sees 19-year-old Irish goalkeeper, Conor Hazard, make his first appearance on the Celtic bench just one month after signing a new four-year deal with the club.

Kick-off at Celtic Park is 3pm. Head to @celticfc for all the pre-game build-up and live match updates.

CELTIC (4-2-3-1): De Vries; Gamboa, Bitton, Boyata, Tierney; Kouassi, Ntcham; Roberts, McGregor, Sinclair; Griffiths.
Subs: Hazard, Ajer, Miller, Forrest, L. Henderson, Dembele, Edouard.
