  • North American Federation donate $20,000 to Celtic FC Foundation

North American Federation donate $20,000 to Celtic FC Foundation

By: Newsroom Staff on 13 Oct, 2017 10:39

  • CELTIC FC Foundation experienced an incredible day on Saturday, September 30, as they benefited from the handover of a magnificent donation from the North American Federation of Celtic Supporters’ Clubs.

Following the huge success of the annual NAFCSC Convention in Las Vegas this June, an incredible amount was raised by supporters who celebrated a week long calendar of green and white themed events.

Celtic FC Foundation Chief Executive, Tony Hamilton, was on hand at Celtic Park during the game against Hibernian to offer thanks to Tam Donnelly, President of the NAFCSC, who presented the Foundation with an outstanding contribution of $20,000.

The convention, which this year celebrated the 50th Anniversary of our triumph in Lisbon, saw Celtic legends Bertie Auld and Jim Craig join thousands of supporters, who made the journey from all around the world, to meet friends old and new.

Fundraising commenced on Thursday, June 8, as supporters attended a special Mass in celebration of the Celtic family at the Guardian Angel Cathedral, beside the Las Vegas strip.  The charitable ethos of those attending continued as donations were made by supporters enjoying a screening of the Scotland v England World Cup qualifier on Saturday, June 10, shown at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort.

Alongside Celtic FC Foundation, supporters of the convention were also successful in fundraising for the homeless community of Las Vegas, the Kano Foundation and Celtic supporters based in Houston who have been affected by the terrible events of Hurricane Harvey.

Tam Donnelly, President of the NAFCSC, said: “We are delighted to make this donation to Celtic FC Foundation on behalf of all members of the North American Federation of Celtic Supporters’ Clubs.

“We would also like to send a big thank you to those who travelled from around the world to attend this year’s convention.

“We had groups hailing from Scotland, Ireland, Sweden, Dubai, Japan and Australia to name a few.

“This charitable work would not be possible without the continual support of dedicated Celtic supporters throughout the US and beyond.”

Celtic FC Foundation would like to express deepest gratitude to each supporter who attended this year’s convention.
