Roberts: We'll be energetic and positive for Dundee game

By: Tony Connelly on 12 Oct, 2017 13:32

  • PATRICK Roberts insists Celtic will not be affected by the recent international break when they meet Dundee in the Premiership this weekend thanks to the strength in depth of the squad.

The Hoops will look to extend their domestic unbeaten run to 59 games on Saturday when Neil McCann’s side come to Paradise to face Celtic in the league.

With the World Cup qualifiers drawing to a conclusion earlier this week many of Brendan Rodgers’ players have recently returned from international duty.

Roberts spoke to the media at Lennoxtown today (Thursday) ahead of the league clash with Dundee and promised that he and his team-mates would be fresh and highly motivated to continue their unbeaten run.

“We have a big squad with top-quality players so we can make changes,” said Roberts. “It’s good to have that rotation and keep things fresh. It means we can go into each game energetic and positive.

“The morale is good so far and all the lads are getting on well on and off the pitch. It’s all going good, so whatever changes the manager makes will be for the better.

“Some of the lads here have been training for the last few days and the boys coming back in are getting back to fitness so it’s looking good. We’ll play Dundee at the weekend so all our concentration is on that game at the moment.

“I got a long weekend so I went back down south and enjoyed some time there. I haven’t had many in the last few years so it’s nice to get some time to rest the legs. For me it’s just about resting and getting back into club football now.”

With the Champions League clash with Bayern Munich now less than a week away Celtic will be hoping to build on their impressive 3-0 win away from home to Anderlecht. However, Roberts insisted that he and his team-mates can't afford to focus on anything other than the next game.

He added:“We’re not distracted with the Bayern game, we have a lot of games coming up.

"The start of the season is always mad and there are so many games so we keep our heads down, get on with it and try and get the job done before we think of next week.”
