  • Patrick Roberts and Celts just focus on winning

Patrick Roberts and Celts just focus on winning

By: Tony Connelly on 05 Oct, 2017 11:24

  • CELTIC signed off for the latest international break with a 2-2 draw with Hibernian on Saturday. It extended the Hoops unbeaten domestic run to an incredible 58 games, and they’ll be looking to continue that when they return to action on October 14 against Dundee.

However, the run is not something that the Celtic players focus on, as Patrick Roberts explained in this week’s Celtic View.

“We just look to win the game and to perform well as a team,” he said, “and if we do that, the results will come. So we’ll just take every game as it comes.

“It’s the international break now so some of the lads are going away, when they come back we’ll look to kick on from where we left off.”

Roberts returned to Celtic at the end of August for another year with the Hoops, having previously enjoyed a successful 18-month loan spell with the club.

He already has a full set of domestic medals to show for his time at Celtic, while he gained vital European experience last season in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League

He is clearly enjoying being back at Paradise, linking up again with team-mates who have become friends, and is looking to continue his improvement as a player under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers.

The winger said: “The manager knows what I bring, he knows the type of play I am and that’s why he’s brought me to the club.

“He puts a lot of trust in me at such a young age and I strive to repay that. He’s been good ever since he came here and I can only get better for him.

“I haven’t set myself any specific targets. I just want to keep improving as a player and to win as many games as I can, and stages like the Champions League play a big part in that.”
