Callum McGregor signs new four-year deal with the Hoops

By: Newsroom Staff on 14 Sep, 2017 09:30

  • CELTIC Football Club is delighted to announce that Callum McGregor has signed a new four-year contract with the club which will run until the summer of 2021.

The talented midfielder who has been with Celtic since he was eight-years-old, has played at every age level for the club as well as also turning out for Scotland at every age level from Under-15 to Under-21.

As a graduate of the Celtic Youth Academy that has also produced first-team Celts such as James Forrest and Kieran Tierney among others, McGregor went on loan to Notts County in season 2013/14, when he scored 12 goals in 37 league outings with the League One outfit.

On his return to the Hoops, he made a flying start by scoring in his debut against KR Reykjavik in the UEFA Champions League and he has hardly looked back since.

Callum told the official Celtic website: “Celtic has been part of my life for so many years and as I’ve gone through the levels club really has become my home. I really wanted to make sure I continued to be part of such a great club and it’s a huge honour to sign this new contract.

“I’ve really enjoyed being part of the first-team in the last couple of years and it really makes my time at Celtic and coming through the ranks, so worthwhile.”

He added: “We have a great bunch of lads in the team, some real quality players and we're bringing our fans success, so it was something I just had to stay part of.

“The gaffer has been great here in the past year and I’m totally focused now on continuing to work with him and the staff to always improve personally as a player and work as a team to bring more and more success to our supporters.”
