Forrest leads the line for Celts at Firhill

By: Mark Henderson on 11 Aug, 2017 18:45

  • JAMES Forrest will lead the line for Celtic tonight away to Partick Thistle as the Scottish treble-winners aim to extend their unbeaten domestic run to 51 matches.

The inclusion of the winger is one of eight changes to the team that swept aside Kilmarnock 5-0 on Tuesday night to book their spot in the League Cup quarter-finals.

Captain Scott Brown is restored to the side following suspension, while Mikael Lustig, Nir Bitton, Jozo Simunovic, Olivier Ntcham, Callum McGregor and Scott Sinclair also come into the starting XI.

Anthony Ralston, Kristoffer Ajer, Calvin Miller, Eboue Kouassi, Stuart Armstrong, Kundai Benyu, Tom Rogic, Leigh Griffiths are the players to drop out.

Forrest, who has operated as the focal point of the attack several times already this season, will be supported closely by a triumvirate of Jonny Hayes, McGregor and Sinclair.

Kick-off at Firhill is 7.45pm, and head to @celticfc for all the pre-game build-up and live match updates as Brendan Rodgers’ side aim to head into next week’s UEFA Champions League play-off against FC Astana on a high.

CELTIC (4-2-3-1) Gordon; Lustig, Bitton, Simunovic, Tierney; Brown, Ntcham; Hayes, McGregor, Sinclair; Forrest
Subs: De Vries, Griffiths, Armstrong, Rogic, Benyu, Ajer, Ralston
