Rogic and Simunovic start for Celts against Slavia

By: Mark Henderson in Prague on 04 Jul, 2017 15:45

  • TOM Rogic and Jozo Simunovic will both make their first starts of pre-season tonight against Slavia Prague in the only two changes to the Celtic team who drew 1-1 with Rapid Vienna on Saturday.

Rogic, who scored a dramatic late winner in the Scottish Cup final to clinch the treble last season, starts in midfield alongside captain Scott Brown and Callum McGregor, while Simunovic partners Dedryck Boyata in central defence.

Erik Sviatchenko and Stuart Armstrong are the players to drop out, with both named among the substitutes as the Hoops contest their third pre-season fixture against the Czech champions.

Former Celt Johnny Madden will be honoured before kick-off (6pm local time) at the Eden Arena when one of the stands in the stadium will be named after him in recognition to his immense contribution to Slavia, who he managed for 25 years, and Czech football.

To follow the event, and for all the pre-game build-up and live match updates, head to the club’s official Twitter account @celticfc
