  • Henrik and Lubo's delight at Paradise return

Henrik and Lubo's delight at Paradise return

By: Mark Henderson on 28 May, 2017 18:39

  • CELTIC greats Henrik Larsson and Lubo Moravcik admitted it was a special sensation to return to Paradise and play in front of 60,000 supporters in today’s entertaining charity match.

The duo were joined by a host of former Hoops favourites and a number of celebrity Celts to take part in the event, which will raise funds for Celtic FC Foundation.

The Swedish star scored a hat-trick and the Slovakian magician also found the net as Henrik’s Heroes triumphed 5-2 over Lubo’s Legends in front of a carnival atmosphere.

Taking place less than 24 hours after Brendan Rodgers’ side secured the treble following their dramatic Scottish Cup success against Aberdeen, which also saw them go the full domestic campaign unbeaten, it was a memorable way to round off a stunning season.

Henrik said: “It’s always nice to be back here. Celtic has a special place in my heart. We had some great times here and to go back out there today was fantastic..

“It was great to be back. It feels like home and I really enjoyed it. I haven’t seen some of the lads for many years, so it was great fun to be here, and all the jokes are pretty much the same.

“It’s all for a good cause, and it's great Celtic FC Foundation are doing all the things they are and we are more than happy to do our bit for them as well.

“It’s important as I know the charity does a lot of great work in things like education and health. They started it a long time ago and they have kept it going. The stadium sold out as well so it means a lot of money is going to them which is great.”

Lubo said: “It wasn’t easy to catch the ball and score the goal as the ball was going much quicker than I was running!

“I was really happy to score. The whole situation about Celtic just now is positive as the club won the treble yesterday and it was nice that the people came here today for another reason - Celtic FC Foundation - along with celebrating the treble. Together, it made it a nice today.

“It was great feeling to see all the fans come to the match for charity. As players we are very pleased about this.”
