Celts pay tribute to victims of Manchester attack

By: Jo Hendry on 23 May, 2017 15:21

  • FOLLOWING the tragic events at the Manchester Arena last night (Monday), Celtic defender, Dedryck Boyata and winger, Patrick Roberts have paid tribute to the 22 victims who tragically lost their lives in the attack, and the 59 others who were injured in the explosion.

Roberts, who is on-loan to the Hoops from Manchester City, said: “It’s a tragic thing to happen in any part of the world, especially somewhere so close. To go to a concert and for a bomb to go off is terrible, and my thoughts are with all the families.

“It’s a tough time for the whole world and it’s good that we can unite and get behind the country. My thoughts are with all the families and everyone in Manchester right now.”

Boyata, who spent nearly 10 years with Manchester City after joining as a youth player, said: “It’s a tragedy. As soon as I heard it this morning I texted everyone that I know back in Manchester to make sure that they’re okay. It’s very bad news and all of us are thinking about those affected. It’s so sad.”
