Invincibles collect a treble at Scottish Football Writers' Awards

By: Mark Henderson on 21 May, 2017 20:00

  • CELTIC have made completed their dominance of the end-of-season individual awards after Brendan Rodgers, Scott Sinclair and Kieran Tierney were all recognised by the Scottish Football Writers Association tonight in Glasgow.

Brendan Rodgers was named Manager of the Year, Sinclair collected the Player of the Year prize and Tierney was awarded the Young Player of the Year accolade.

It came on the day that champions became ‘Invincibles’ after they beat Hearts 2-0 in Paradise to go through the entire league campaign without defeat.

These records have also been coupled with silverware in the form of a sixth successive title and the League Cup.

Only Aberdeen stand between the Celts and a first treble in 16 years in next week’s Scottish Cup final, while a return to the UEFA Champions League group stages for the first time in three years has also been achieved.

These stunning achievements by Brendan Rodgers and his players have been reflected in the amount of individual awards they have collected over recent weeks, with the manager, Sinclair and Tierney the recipients of the equivalent prizes from PFA Scotland earlier this month.

And last week Brendan Rodgers and Scott Brown were named as the the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership Manager of the Year and Player of the Year, respectively.

Congratulations to Brendan and all three players on their prestigious awards.
