  • Darnell Fisher leaves Celtic for Rotherham United

Darnell Fisher leaves Celtic for Rotherham United

By: Newsroom Staff on 10 Aug, 2016 17:45

  • DARNELL Fisher has joined Rotherham United on a three-year deal.

The Reading-born defender moves to Alan Stubbs’ side after three years with the Scottish champions and will now compete for a place in the starting XI at the Championship side following a year on loan with St Johnstone last season.

Fisher broke through to the Celtic first-team in 2013 after joining the club’s Youth Academy from Farnborough and went on to make 13 appearances in his first season under Neil Lennon’s charge.

The 22-year-old made a further eight appearances the following season before enjoying a successful loan spell at McDiarmid Park in 2015/16, scoring once in 23 games for the Saints.

Fisher will now continue his career south of the border at the Millers alongside Scott Allan, who secured a season-long loan to the English side earlier this month, with the Championship team continuing their league campaign away to Aston Villa this Saturday.

Everyone at Celtic wishes Darnell every success for the future and the club thanks him for his contribution.
