Gary Caldwell

• Gary joined from Hibernian in the summer of 2006 and has largely operated in the centre of defence. He has also shown his versatility, occasionally slotting in at right-back and midfield.
• He trained with Celtic as a youngster before moving to Newcastle United as a 16-year-old.
• Gary joined Hibernian in the summer of 2004 after two previous loan spells at the Easter Road club, and he also had loan spells at Darlington, Coventry and Derby while with Newcastle.
• He made a total of 118 appearances for Hibernian, scoring seven goals.
• Gary is a Scotland regular and famously scored against France at Hampden in September 2006 in a 1-0 win.
• Since joining Celtic, Gary has won two SPL titles, one Scottish Cup and one Co-operative Insurance Cup.
• In May 2009, he was voted Player of the Year by the Scottish football writers. He was also nominated for the SPFA award.
